A Laser Facelift, using Precision Tx technology and equipment by Cynosure, is a non-invasive, in-office surgical procedure using laser precision to tighten, smooth and tone the lower face and neck area. It also reduces wrinkles, sagging and other signs of aging without cutting or removing any skin, and it is done under local anesthesia in about an hour. There have been many great advancements in the way cosmetic surgery is performed and improvements in equipment available. The Laser Face Lift is the result of these vast improvements, and it is the latest, lowest risk, and most satisfying way to deliver the desired results.
The many benefits of a Laser Facelift include:
- Virtually no scarring- only 2-3 tiny incision sites.
- Very little recovery time
- Reduced cost – no hospital fees or costs associated with general anesthesia
- No or minimal bleeding
- No stitches
- Greatly reduced risk of post-operative complications
- A shorter time spent in the operating room.
An added benefit of the Laser Facelift is an average 30% tightening of the skin due to stimulated collagen growth, which adds strength and stability to the skin structure. This does not occur with a standard facelift.
What does the procedure involve?
Three tiny incision sites are made and a local anesthetic is administered to the treatment area, ensuring the patient’s comfort throughout the procedure. Once the patient is sufficiently numbed, a fibre optic cable the size of a small needle is then inserted. The SideLaze800 hand-piece transmits a beam of laser light down the fibre optic cable, and the surgeon carefully guides this beam across the underside of the dermal layer of the skin in a grid pattern. The heating effect of the laser causes the tissue to coagulate, leading to an instant tightening of the dermal and epidermal layers of the skin, as well as in the underlying tissue. The heat of the laser cauterizes the tissue, reducing bleeding and bruising, and resulting in quicker healing for the patient. The ThermaGuide system monitors the working temperature of the tissue being treated, and it regulates the laser’s temperature, so as to never get too hot.
The most common treatment plan includes:
- Treating the lower half of the cheeks, from the ear to the corner of the mouth, tightening the jowels, and lifting the skin below.
- Treating below the jaw line, under the chin & down the neck, tightens the neck’s loose skin and excess fat which develops with aging (aka the ‘wattle’)
The results could be said to be close to 60-80% of the results of a full surgical MACS facelift after only one treatment. The procedure is done in our office, under sedation, with a local anesthetic. The patient is free to leave within 1-2 hours of arrival. It is advised that the patient have somebody drive them home after the procedure, and some patients may need an over-the-counter pain medication for a few days following the procedure.
Noticable improvements from a Precision Tx Laser Facelift are immediate. However, the full results will not be visible for 3-6 months as the production of collagen continues after the treatment. The skin will also continue to improve in elasticity, thickness and texture over time. An improvement rate of 80% has been reported 3 months after the operation for symptoms such as sagging skin, jowls, double chin, wrinkles and fine lines, and excess fat of the neck and jaw line. Some swelling following any procedure is normal and will take weeks to fully subside. A facial compression garment is recommended to be worn 24/7 for 1-2 weeks following the procedure. After the initial recovery period, the compression garment can be removed for social interaction but should be used whenever possible to continue to enhance the improvements. There has been a noted correlation between the length of time and consistency of wear of the compression garment following the procedure, and the quicker and better results overall.
What does a Laser Facelift cost?
A Laser Facelift usually costs about 60-80% less than a standard MACS facelift (depending on whether it is performed under local or general anesthetic), and without the inconveniences associated of a standard facelift. Results of the Precision Tx Laser Facelift have been estimated to last between 5 to 10 years. As with all cosmetic surgery procedures, how well you take care of your skin and general health in the following months and years will greatly affect your appearance.
Why the Precision TX SideLaze800 system vs. other “Laser Facelifts”?
The SideLaze800 Cellulaze system, is a more precise hand-piece designed specifically for performing the Precision Tx Laser Facelift.
Other companies (such as LaserLift ™) perform facial rejuvenation using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), Pixel or other externally applied lasers. While these techniques can certainly give some good results, they are merely a skin surface treatment. The Precision TX Laser Facelift is in a class of its own, providing a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation that approximates the results of a surgical facelift.
